Comment: | This image is a wide field shot centered at the North America Nebula. It is located in the constellation Cygnus and fairly close to the galactic equator presenting a dense star field right to its northeast (upper-left in this image). Even though the nebula is not easily visible to the naked eye its position can be easily found with the help of Deneb, being the bright source in the upper-right corner of the image. In this very direction, we are looking through the Milky Way's disk - a location where we can find a number of galactic emission nebulas, like the North America Nebula. This image is a stack of 38 single images, exposed for 120s each totaling a cumulative exposure time of roughly an hour. |
